NBM OF AFRICA WORLDWIDE STRENGTHENS HUMANITARIAN COMMITMENT THROUGH VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION INITIATIVE IN JOS
Jos, Plateau State | 29 July 2026 — In a compelling demonstration of its enduring commitment to humanitarian service, public health advancement, and sustainable community development, the Jos Zone of the NBM of Africa Worldwide successfully conducted a voluntary blood donation exercise at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos. The initiative was carried out in compliance with the directive of the President, Dr. Charles Chimezie, Ph.D., reaffirming the organization’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding human life through practical acts of compassion and social responsibility.
The humanitarian exercise forms part of NBM of Africa Worldwide’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda, which prioritises interventions that improve the quality of life, strengthen healthcare systems, and foster a culture of civic responsibility across communities. Medical professionals from the Plateau State Specialist Hospital delivered an insightful health education session, underscoring the indispensable role of voluntary blood donation in modern healthcare delivery. They explained that donated blood remains a critical resource for emergency medical interventions, including the treatment of accident victims, mothers experiencing obstetric complications, patients undergoing major surgical procedures, individuals living with sickle cell disease, cancer patients, and others requiring lifesaving transfusions.
The medical experts further highlighted the physiological benefits of regular voluntary blood donation, noting that it promotes the natural regeneration of healthy blood cells, supports cardiovascular well-being among eligible donors, and provides an opportunity for routine health assessment prior to every donation. They emphasised that, beyond its clinical significance, blood donation represents one of humanity’s noblest expressions of compassion, as a single unit of donated blood can be separated into red blood cells, plasma, and platelets to save multiple lives.
Speaking at the conclusion of the exercise, the President’s representative and President of NBM of Africa Worldwide, Jos Zone, Engr. Amoni Emmanuel Harmony, commended members for their exemplary participation, discipline, and unwavering commitment to humanitarian ideals. He described the exercise as a practical reflection of the organisation’s philosophy that genuine leadership is measured not by authority, but by service to humanity. He further urged members to sustain the culture of voluntary blood donation and to continue serving as ambassadors of humanitarianism within their families, workplaces, and communities. According to him, consistent participation in life-saving initiatives not only enhances national healthcare capacity but also reinforces the organisation’s enduring legacy as a responsible and socially conscious institution.
