- The NBM of Africa adopted the AXE as its insignia because of the Organisation’s quest to rid the world of social ills and vices—an important and difficult task.
- For the Black man, particularly the subsistence farmer, the AXE represents a vital tool used to accomplish difficult tasks. It is also used symbolically to cut the chains of SLAVERY and tear away the shackles of OPPRESSION.
