1977 — WHERE THE JOURNEY BEGAN – A MOVEMENT BORN WITH A PURPOSE
- ON 16 October 1977, the Neo-Black Movement of Africa was founded at the University of Benin, Nigeria, as a Pan-African movement committed to the promotion and advancement of African culture, dignity and humanity.
- From its beginning, the Movement was driven by a desire to confront oppression and social ills, promote African advancement and contribute positively to society. Its ideology of Neo-Blackism was rooted in the desire to liberate humanity from the shackles of oppression.
- Guided by “Social Justice and Equality/Equity for All”, NBM of Africa has remained committed to humanitarian service, human rights, African culture, unity, peaceful coexistence and the rejection of discrimination and social vices.
- Since 1977, the journey has continued. What began with a vision has grown into a Movement with a global presence, continually committing its human and material resources to making a positive impact on society.
