JOMO KENYATTA – THE LEGACY BEHIND THE NAME
- WHO WAS JOMO KENYATTA?
Jomo Kenyatta was a Kenyan nationalist leader, political thinker and statesman who became a major figure in Kenya’s struggle for independence from British colonial rule. He became Kenya’s first Prime Minister in 1963 and its first President in 1964. - HIS VISION FOR KENYA
Kenyatta advocated African self-government and greater control over Kenya’s political and economic affairs. He also emphasised education, national development and the preservation of African cultural identity during a period of major political change. - HIS CONTRIBUTION TO AFRICA
