- WHO WAS MALCOLM X?
Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little in 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. He became a prominent minister, public speaker, and advocate for Black dignity, self-determination, and human rights. - HIS EVOLVING VISION
Throughout his life, Malcolm X’s views developed. He increasingly connected the experiences of Black people in America with the wider struggles of African peoples and the diaspora. He advocated dignity, political awareness, self-determination and economic empowerment. - HIS CONNECTION TO AFRICA
In 1964, Malcolm X travelled to several African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt and Tanzania. His experiences strengthened his understanding of African liberation and the global dimensions of racial inequality. - THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE NAME TO NBM OF AFRICA
The name “Malcolm X” resonates with African consciousness, dignity, self-determination, equality and social justice—ideals aligned with NBM of Africa’s commitment to Pan-Africanism, equality, equity and service to humanity.
