The NBM of Africa Worldwide has opened discussions with former Vice President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Samuel Sam-Sumana, on strengthening African cooperation, peacebuilding, youth empowerment and humanitarian interventions across the continent.

Sam-Sumana, who served as Sierra Leone’s Vice President from 2007 to 2015 and is currently pursuing another presidential bid, made the engagement during a courtesy visit to the President of NBM of Africa Worldwide, Dr Charles Chimezie, PhD.

The high-level meeting, held as part of the former Sierra Leonean Vice President’s engagement in Nigeria, brought together leaders and representatives of the NBM, creating a platform for discussions on issues considered critical to Africa’s development and stability.

Sam-Sumana was accompanied on the visit by Ambassador Sahr John Francis, former Governor of Kono District in Sierra Leone’s Eastern Region, and Hon. Nickey Perry, Senior Special Assistant to the former Vice President.

Receiving the delegation alongside the NBM of Africa Worldwide President were Amb. Dr Wale, Anambra Zonal President and the Abuja Zonal President of the NBM of Africa Worldwide.

The discussions focused on the need for stronger partnerships among African institutions and leaders in addressing challenges relating to peace and security, humanitarian service, youth empowerment, leadership and sustainable development.

The engagement also highlighted the growing importance of people-centred initiatives in confronting poverty, social exclusion, youth unemployment and other challenges capable of undermining peace and development across African societies.

For the NBM, the interaction provided an opportunity to further project its humanitarian and community-oriented agenda while exploring areas of cooperation capable of producing practical benefits for vulnerable populations and young Africans.

The meeting, therefore, underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration and sustained dialogue among African leaders, civil society organisations and humanitarian institutions in advancing a more united, peaceful and development-focused continent.
