NBM OF AFRICA AND OTHERS UNITE AGAINST DRUG ABUSE
CALABAR — As part of activities marking the 2026 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Neo Black Movement (NBM) of Africa Worldwide, Calabar Zone, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Cross River State Action Committee on Drug Abuse Prevention, on Tuesday, paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V.
The delegation, led by the National President of NBM of Africa Worldwide, Dr. Charles Chimezie (Ph.D), said the visit was aimed at securing the support and blessings of the traditional institution in the ongoing fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the state.
Addressing the revered monarch on behalf of the delegation, Dr. Chimezie stressed the critical role of traditional rulers in promoting peace, social cohesion, youth development, and community transformation. He noted that the campaign against substance abuse requires the collective efforts of all stakeholders.
The NBM President, who was represented at the event by the President of NBM of Africa Worldwide, Calabar Zone, Engr. Bepaye Adie, alongside the Calabar Zonal Chairman, Mr. Michael Oklebe, and other members of the Pan-African and humanitarian organization, expressed concern over the growing incidence of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking among young people.
