The NBM of Africa Worldwide has established a N20 million Jeffrey Osas Iyen Legacy Education Fund to secure the education of the late Italy South Zonal President’s son from nursery school through university.
The fund, which has an initial endowment of N20 million, was announced during the presentation of a N20 million cheque to the family of the deceased by the President of NBM of Africa Worldwide, Dr Charles Chimezie (PhD), as part of activities marking the funeral rites of the late Jeffrey Osas Iyen.
In a funeral oration delivered in honour of the deceased, the organisation described Iyen as “a remarkable leader, devoted husband, loving father and compassionate brother” whose humility, integrity and selfless service touched the lives of many people.
The Pan-African and humanitarian Organisation said the establishment of the education fund was a lasting expression of its commitment to the welfare of the families of its members, particularly in times of grief and loss.
According to the NBM of Africa Worldwide, the fund would ensure that the late Iyen’s son receives uninterrupted education from nursery school to university, thereby transforming the memory of his father into a lasting legacy of hope and opportunity.
The NBM of Africa Worldwide extended its deepest condolences to the widow, son, and other members of the Iyen family, assuring them of its unwavering love, support, and solidarity during the period of mourning.
It said the gesture reflected its belief that compassion was best expressed through action, adding that the late Iyen’s name would continue to be remembered through education, hope and service to humanity.
“Sleep peacefully, our beloved brother. Your legacy lives on,” the organisation said, as it paid tribute to the late Italy South Zonal President and reaffirmed its commitment to preserving his memory through the education of his son.
