Hardship: Group gives over 1,300 bags of rice, beans other food items to poor in Imo

The Neo Black Movement (NBM) of Africa, a global humanitarian organisation has given over 1,300 bags of rice,800 bags of beans, 1,200 tubers of yams and other food items to the less privileged ones in Imo State.

National President of NBM worldwide , Olorogun Ese Kakor who presented the food items in Owerri at the weekend said it was part of the organisation’s contributions to alleviate the current hardship experienced by citizens in the country.

He said, “What we’re doing is part of nation building to ameliorate the sufferings of the indigent ones in our society. Today we have given out this food items to the widows, the physically challenged ones and the poorest of the poor in Imo, this is part of our contributions to nation building, our services also includes promotion of African culture.

“We have been able to reach out to the poorest households, we would continue to do that and will not relent, the hunger experienced by people today in the country is too much and that’s what stands for.” Kakor said.

The ceremony which is also marks the 45th National conference and 18th annual lecture of NBM witnessed over 800 delegates from all parts of the country .

Kakor later in his speech at the conference with the lecture theme : Addressing the Dual challenges of poverty and inflation in Nigeria ” NBM is highlighting innovative policy solution to solving poverty temporarily or in a long term.

He added “We are taking Nigeria as a case study. The current situation has left the poor and less privilege vulnerable.
At various times as an Organization, we have been able to provide short term solutions that we believe can give immediate Succor to hundreds of thousands struggling with hunger and poverty”.

He explained that between the months of October and November 2022, NBM has provided palliatives and relief
materials to over 12 States in Nigeria ravaged with floods which he pointed out Oguta, Umuagwo Obowo communities in Imo State as beneficiaries.
