NBM OF AFRICA COMMENDS DSS FOR ARREST OF ISWAP COMMANDER LINKED TO OWO CHURCH MASSACRE

The NBM of Africa, Worldwide has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for the successful apprehension of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) Commander responsible for the horrific Owo Church Massacre of June 5, 2022.

In a statement signed by its National President, Dr. Charles Chimezie (Ph.D.), the Organization described the arrest as a major breakthrough in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and a significant step toward justice for the victims and their families.

NBM of Africa recalled that shortly after the tragic attack in Owo, the Organization visited the affected community to commiserate with victims and their families, and donated ₦2,000,000 to support the church and those impacted by the tragedy. The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Vincent Anadi, subsequently issued a letter of appreciation to the Organization for its gesture.

The statement also noted that the Immediate Past President of NBM of Africa, Olorogun Ese Kakor (JP), had assured Nigerians at the time that the perpetrators would be apprehended and brought to justice — a conviction now vindicated by recent developments.

Dr. Chimezie praised the DSS for its professionalism, intelligence-led operations, and steadfast commitment to national security, calling for sustained collaboration among security agencies to ensure lasting peace, justice, and national unity.

The NBM Of Africa reaffirmed its unwavering support for all lawful efforts aimed at safeguarding Nigeria and honoring the memories of innocent lives lost to terrorism.

Signed:
