In line with its commitment to giving back to society, the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Neo-Black Movement (NBM) of Africa, Worldwide, has donated furniture, books, and writing materials to selected government primary and secondary schools across Agbon Kingdom in the Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The eight selected schools include Erhijere Model Primary School Kokori, Kokori Mixed Secondary School, Agbon Primary School, Agbon Secondary School, Orhoakpo Secondary School, Uloho Primary School, Ejaife Primary School Okpara Inland, and Okpara Boys Secondary School.

Speaking at the palace of the traditional ruler of Agbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Ogurime-Rime Okori I (CON), where he led his team to pay homage and receive royal blessings before the donation, NBM President Olorogun Ese Kakor noted that the “Support a School Child Project” is very dear to them. He explained that the driving force behind this initiative is to ensure that no child is denied basic education, irrespective of their location or the financial status of their parents, who may struggle to afford these essential items.

Olorogun Kakor stated that the organization has carried out over 6,000 projects in the last three years, providing support to over 60 schools within and outside Delta State in just the last two months. He emphasized that they embrace this project out of a conviction that it will help groom children, who are the leaders of tomorrow.

He also addressed public misconceptions regarding the NBM of Africa and the Black Axe Confraternity, emphasizing that these are not the same entities and that it is libelous to use both names interchangeably.

At the presentation of the materials in various schools, NBM of Africa Vice President Worldwide, Engr. Eribo Emwanta, expressed the organization’s commitment to this project, highlighting the value it places on the early foundation of education. He stated that education is the bedrock of society, which is why they have decided to bring children off the streets, providing them with learning materials and creating a conducive environment for their studies.

He added, “Among these students you see here today, some could become governors, presidents, or captains of industry.” Although they are in the Agbon Kingdom in Delta State today, he mentioned that they would extend this gesture to other parts of the state and beyond.

Emwanta encouraged the students to use the educational materials wisely and expressed gratitude to the management, principals, and teachers from the participating schools for imparting sound academic and moral knowledge to the learners. He informed attendees that the project is powered by the West-North Gauteng, Agbon, Georgia, and Merseyside zones of the organization.

While assuring that the group would continue to contribute to humanitarian causes, Emwanta announced that they plan to move to the next phase of awarding scholarships to students in selected schools so that they can access uninterrupted education at various levels.

In response, the principals and teachers of the beneficiary schools expressed their gratitude to the organization, praying for its continued success in doing good work. The students also expressed their joy for the writing materials, desks, and chairs, hoping that the organization would provide even more in the future.

His Royal Majesty Ogurime-Rime Okori I (CON) thanked NBM of Africa for its initiative to empower students with writing materials and promised to support the organization whenever called upon. He noted that he has taken time to study the group’s activities and has come to appreciate their humanitarian efforts, not only in Delta State but across the country. The monarch urged them to sustain their good work.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of the organization’s quarterly magazine, Uhuru Magazine, to the King amidst cheers.
