NEO BLACK MOVEMENT OF AFRICA (NBM): HUMANITARIAN OUTREACH AND ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION: EKITI ZONAL STRIDES
As part of the activities marking our 1st Anniversary a meaningful one in Ekiti Zone, we undertook two impactful initiatives aimed at promoting NBM of Africa to Community Development and Social Responsibility.
These efforts reflect our commitment to the betterment of our society and the well-being of vulnerable individuals. Hence, the NBM ideology of Africa
1. Vulnerable Home Visitation
Date: 25th November 2024
Venue: Erelu Adebayo Charity Home, Iyin-Ekiti
In line with our NBM of Africa’s commitment to supporting the Vulnerable, we visited the Erelu Adebayo Charity Home with essential items and financial support donations.
Donations included:
Food Items: 1 bag of rice (50kg), 20 tubers of yam, 10 packs of indomie noodles and spaghetti.
Toiletries: Bathing and washing soaps, toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, toilet tissue papers, antiseptics and disinfectants.
Financial Support: A cash donation of ₦50,000 was presented to the Matron to address additional needs not covered by our donations.
The Matron, Mrs Modupe Olayinka Ajayi was overwhelmed with gratitude; and expressed heartfelt appreciation for our support. She lauded our commitment to their welfare and encouraged us to maintain a continuous relationship with the home. We assured her of our intention to visit periodically and provide further assistance.
These activities underscore our dedication to making a difference in our communities. By cleaning our environment and supporting the vulnerable, we have not only celebrated our anniversary meaningfully but also demonstrated the power of collective action for societal progress.
We remain committed to sustaining these initiatives and extending our impact to more communities.
2. Community Sanitation Exercise
Date: 29th November 2024
Route: Oke-Iyinmi →Ojumose →Ewi’s Palace →Car Park/Bus Terminal →Fayose Market
In a bid to contribute to environmental cleanliness and public health, we organized a community sanitation exercise covering major landmarks in the city. During the exercise, we cleaned roads and public spaces, removing dirt and waste to enhance the aesthetic and sanitary conditions of the environment.
Highlights of the exercise included:
Engagement with Community Leaders: We interacted with key community leaders along the route, including a high Chief at the Ewi’s Palace. They commended our initiative, acknowledging our dedication to community service and scoring our efforts positively.
Meeting with the Commissioner for Environment: On the sidelines of the exercise, we had the privilege of engaging with the Commissioner for Environment. He praised our efforts, describing them as exemplary, and encouraged other youths to emulate our commitment to community progress.
To ensure sustainability, Ekiti Zonal President in person of Mr. Babatunde Ademola Ojo addressed members at the conclusion of the exercise, emphasizing the need for quarterly community cleanups. This will allow us to extend the impact of this initiative to other areas.
